Self-care is important. Especially for busy moms.
Do you feel like you are always looking after everyone else? Do you feel burnt out? Exhausted? Like the days go far too quickly?
Yep?
Well, that’s a sure sign that you are a mom in need of some self-care time.
Follow these 5 tips for mom self-care and you will be feeling fresh as a daisy again (until the next crazy week, then just repeat the list from the start again).
Plan Time for Self-Care
As moms, we schedule a lot of things every single week. Appointments, play dates, dental check-ups, school events, activities and entertainment, kids’ parties.
But how often do we actually schedule some pampering and downtime for ourselves?
The answer is: not often enough.
We need to remember to proactively take time for ourselves, otherwise, we most likely won’t do it.
You are a priority too and it is important you treat yourself like one.
Schedule some time every week to relax, unwind and pamper yourself.
It will make a big difference to your overall mood and energy levels throughout the entire week.
Self-Care on a Budget
Another thing that can prevent us from self-caring as we should is the worry that everything self-care related is very expensive.
This isn’t true.
Companies have really taken hold of the “self-care” trend over the last couple of years and turned the basic practice into something it isn’t.
Self-care doesn’t have to cost money.
All it is is taking time for yourself in a way that makes you feel relaxed and restored.
This can include products such as bath bombs, face masks and new candles, but it doesn’t have to.
You can self-care by having a long hot shower, reading a book under a blanket, or going for a nice walk in nature.
It’s all about being kind to yourself and giving yourself some time to breathe away from crazy everyday life. That’s all.
Get Out of The House
The best way to clear your mind and de-stress is to get out into nature.
Especially if you are a new mom, you are likely spending a lot of time indoors looking after your child(ren).
This can give you cabin fever over time and can cause you to feel more stressed and flustered.
Give yourself by getting outside regularly and getting some natural exercise.
You will see so many benefits of this straight away.
Call in Assistance
You can practise some self-care while your kids are sleeping or busy playing, but this doesn’t always go to plan and you can’t guarantee that you will fully relax.
Give yourself a proper break and enlist the help of someone you trust to take your kids out for a bit while you practise your self-care.
It might feel selfish but it isn’t.
You have to look after yourself to look after others, and looking after yourself properly is the right thing to do for your child(ren).
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
If you can get someone to watch your kids overnight, this is the ideal way to self-care.
You need a good night of sleep.
It will restore you like nothing else.
If you’re feeling a bit down or overwhelmed with parenting, try and enlist the help of an overnight babysitter.
Get some good sleep as regularly as you can.
You deserve it.
